Thousands of deaf dogs are put to sleep every year simply because they are deaf.

I will be traveling across the U.S. and Canada to photograph deaf dogs with their families. I will also be visiting animal rescue groups that rescue deaf and/or special needs dogs. In addition, I will talk to animal shelter staff to find out how their treatment and placement of special needs dogs differs from that of other dogs.

Main goals:

* raise awareness about deaf dogs
* educate the public about spaying and neutering deaf dogs and the prevention of certain breeding practices which result in the birth of deaf and/or blind puppies
* create a book that can be sold by nonprofit special needs animal rescues in order to save the lives of deaf dogs and to help them find forever homes
* inspire people to rescue deaf dogs
* inspire people to overcome challenges in their lives
* promote the beauty of these animals and allow their stories to be heard

Each year an estimated 3 million to 4 million dogs are put to sleep in the United States alone.

While I am traveling across the U.S. and Canada to photograph deaf dogs, I will also be photographing rescued dogs with their families. I will also be visiting animal shelters and rescue groups to find out the problems and challenges they face, in order to better understand the pet overpopulation problem and educate the public about possible solutions.

Main goals:

* raise awareness about the pet overpopulation problem
* educate the public about the importance of spaying and neutering their pets
* educate the public about puppy mills and pet stores
* create a book that can be sold by nonprofit animal rescues and shelters in order to save the lives of animals
* inspire people to adopt their next pet from a shelter or rescue groups
* educate the public about pitbulls and breed-specific legislation
* promote the beauty of these animals and allow their stories to be heard
